The reviews for Heron House of Largo present a mixed picture, with both positive and negative experiences shared by residents and their families. On the positive side, many reviewers praise the facility for its friendly and caring staff, clean environment, and a variety of activities that keep residents engaged. The open dining concept, where residents can eat at their convenience, is highlighted as a significant advantage. Some reviewers appreciate the spacious rooms and the facility's efforts to accommodate residents' needs, including those with limited budgets. However, there are numerous criticisms as well. Several reviewers express dissatisfaction with management, citing frequent staff turnover and poor communication. Concerns about cleanliness, particularly regarding bedbugs and unsanitary food conditions, are mentioned. Some reviewers report issues with medication management and inadequate care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's. The facility's location on a busy street and the perceived lack of security for residents prone to wandering are also noted as drawbacks. Overall, while some residents and families have had positive experiences at Heron House, others have encountered significant challenges, leading to a polarized set of reviews. The facility's strengths in staff friendliness and activity offerings are counterbalanced by concerns about management, cleanliness, and resident safety.

When it became obvious that my mom could no longer live independently I looked at a lot of ALFs. My Mom’s income is extremely low so cost was a big issue for us. The only thing she could afford at other places was a shared room that was tiny. The social worker we had knew the folks at Heron House. They worked with us to get Mom a private room at a price we could afford. The staff have all been really great to me and my Mom. The staff is consistent without a lot of turnover. Mom has her favorite nurse who really makes her laugh and her favorite tech who is very sweet. The all day dining room is a huge plus as the residents don’t feel they have to hurry or they’ll miss a meal. The homemade soups are amazing by the way. Heron House may not be the newest facility but the care they give their residents is genuine. I have found them to be responsive, caring and kind.
