Memory care is a poorly planned unit with blind hallways that do not facilitate monitoring of residents. The odor of urine is pervasive, the AC has problems and mold is growing in some of the rooms. Housekeeping doesn’t exist and laundry is not done regularly. My family member received no help and had no way to call for help. She had no showers. I mean NO SHOWERS. Medical problems got worse and I learned that she didn’t get her medications as ordered. She was snowed on the same doses of meds allegedly given at Harmony once she started receiving them after leaving. Heart failure swelling that got worse at harmony despite escalating medication doses resolved quickly after leaving. Staff told me my family member was confused about her meds and I believed them. Such regret now. They are prisoners to caregivers who are short staffed and burned out or simply don’t care. There is no spiritual care. Even with nearly daily visitors and consistent communication with leadership, nothing helped.
