After moving my mother here, into Assisted living, they almost immediately insisted she needed to move into Memory Care. - that is an entirely different thread. While under the care of Elegance, my mother degraded significantly - resulting in me filing complaints with the CA DSS . CA DSS substantiated 8 of my complaints against Elegance. While it took 1 year to get these complaints investigated by the state, it has finally concluded recently. I moved my mother out of Elegance 10months ago fortunately. I am happy to share my experiences with anyone considering moving into Elegance of Berkeley and I can share the things you should look out for. I have quite a few pictures - of the poor care she received under Elegance’s care - things a daughter should never have to see their parent subjected to. Think twice about moving your loved one into Elegance. And I expect Elegance to respond to this saying that they have new staff and leadership, I can inform you that even under the new staff and

My mother was one of the first residents of Elegance Berkeley when it opened in Fall 2022, and I'm posting this review because I used to tell people how great it was. Unfortunately, there has been constant churn of personnel from the Executive Director to the staff level, replacing a management team that was warm, welcoming and communicative with a team that does not communicate well with families, engages in questionable billing practices, has high turnover/gaps in coverage of key roles, and does not resolve problems. The caregivers have been great, but many of them have now left. My mother was sometimes left in her room at meal times because there were not enough staff to bring her to the dining room, despite paying handsomely for that service. Yes, the building is new and pretty, but I would advise new families to keep looking elsewhere if they want stable care for their loved ones, and a responsive management structure.
