My mother lived in both the independent living and memory care areas of Healdsburg Senior Living. She absolutely loved her bright and clean apartment in independent living and it was roomier than other facilities we had visited and more affordable. When she moved over to memory care she was able to have a single room and, although much smaller, the staff helped us recreate a mini version of her independent apartment so the transition was easier and her walls were filled with family photographs and the paintings she loved. The culture of bringing the community together through their fundraising events, the beautiful garden and the animals all helped her thrive while she was there. Visiting and feeding the goats and chickens reminded her of a time she loved visiting her grandparents farm growing up. And the Comm-University program, where she could share her knowledge of music and learn from the kids she was partnered with, gave her a renewed sense of purpose. The nurses and staff in both independent living and memory care were exceptionally kind, patient, caring and her interactions with them all were heartfelt. I can't say enough good things about Healdsburg Senior Living.. I recommend it highly to anyone who is looking for a loving, clean, healthy and caring environment for their loved ones to live.

All of my experience working with Healdsburg Senior Living has been very positive. The atmosphere of the residents is up-beat, engaging and unique. I especially admire the abundant, verdant garden! Each resident is involved in it's creation to the level of their ability, even if it is merely planting a seed, they can take 'ownership' of it's beauty. They also have incorporated some farm animals (pygmy goats, chickens, etc.) so the feeling of a Healdsburg "farm" is refreshing to all who live there, and visit. AND, I have to mention the incredible and growing Comm-University program that originated here! The award-winning documentary, "Alive Inside" was the impetus that has since developed into a multi-generational way to unite younger people (all the way from pre-schoolers to high schoolers) with a resident, identify the music that "speaks to them", and provide a personal play list for that individual to enjoy. The music ignites the spirit, even in someone who otherwise seems to not be as engaged in life as they once were. This isn't just a "program", really, but a much-needed invitation to reunite our generations. Overall, I think the imagination and true caring that happens at Healdsburg Senior Living is unique and hopefully will become more of a model for other residential communities.

Healdsburg Senior Living excels in all areas. Good nutritious food. An incredible flower and kitchen-producing garden. Animals/pets. Music programs. Unique to HSL is their inclusion of children in community service projects with residents. Every effort is made to keep residents vital and involved. A beautiful property, great staff and activities.

I had the pleasure of getting to know staff and residents at Healdsburg Senior Living through the Comm-University program. As garden coordinator at The Healdsburg School, I brought students to work on activities with residents in their beautiful well maintained garden. The students developed strong bonds with their elder buddies and each week their faces would light up as they did fun garden related activities together. HSL has numerous other programs that bring students and residents together, giving a sense of purpose and value to both. I highly recommend HSL for their innovative and caring approach to keeping residents happy, engaged and connected to the greater community.
