Our family member is living at the Gardens, the Memory Care unit of the Watermark at the Pearl. Our experience has been very mixed. Pros: New building, great location, beautiful restaurant and valet parking. Cons: Opened in 2024 and this unit has already been through three memory care directors, showing a real fracture in leadership. Communication between leadership, staff and the families is poor at every level. There is a lack of transparency regarding the care of your loved one and whether the service plans are being followed by staff. Many of the direct care staff go above and beyond to care for residents but are motivated intrinsically, not lead by leadership. Food is mediocre, little engagement activity offered, housekeeping and laundry are disorganized. High staff turnover and not staffed for resident needs. Bored residents cause problematic behaviors. Management does not respond to concerns brought up from family. Our loved ones deserve a lot better!

I’d give zero stars for the memory care unit if I could. the building itself is lovely but the “care” provided is completely disorganized to the point of being non existent. costs go up constantly with no visible additional care being provided. There is no consistent leadership so there is constant staff turnover as they are untrained and underpaid, while watermark corporate racks in 10k+ a month from your loved one. All they care about is money. It’s criminal.

I was paying over $16K a month for my wife’s memory care here. It was advertised as a luxury senior living community. At three times the Oregon state average, I expected to have the finest care for my bedbound, helpless and all too soon to die wife of over 50 years. That was not the case. The care was totally unacceptable and at times truly reprehensible. My wife lost 15 pounds in her last three weeks of life here. It was because she was seldom fed unless I was there to feed her. Never once did a caregiver approach our table and remind me that it was their job; not mine. Mostly, the young caregivers seemed wholly untrained and genuinely frightened of my wife who was nearing death. The one nurse with which I had any contact seemed to be in training rather than be in charge. When I showed one of the managers medical wastes left on my wife’s pillow, she without consulting the nurse, quickly refuted my facts and denied that was the nurse’s actions. The two floor managers refused to list
