The Redwoods

Bordering a marsh preserve north of San Francisco, the Redwoods is residential facility offering proximity to native flora and fauna as well as the excitement of the City. The campus consists of 15 one, two and three-story buildings with a choice of one bedroom and two-bedroom suites. The Center offers residential and independent living as well as skilled nursing and personalized care. Art in the gardens, collage and watercolor classes as well as the “meet the masters” classes fill residents’ needs for the fine arts, while drumming and singing classes, including the well-known “Rock the Ages” chorus, meet the need that everyone has for music in their lives. To meet intellectual needs for mental challenge and learning, there is ongoing computer assistance on the community’s computers or on residents’ personal computers, either through formal classes or the drop-in lab. For interacting with young people, residents can sign up for computer tutoring with a high school tutor. In addition, the Center has a rich literary program; seniors gather together to discuss books, poetry, and film as well as to inspire and support each other in their own creative writings. Due to the environmental location, outdoor activities are always in demand, and residents can spend a lot of time outside tending the community garden or taking part in gathering the vegetable and fruit yield through Thursday harvest.
