The reviews for Abbotswood at Irving Park present a mixed picture. Many reviewers praise the community for its caring and professional staff, clean and welcoming environment, and variety of activities and amenities. Residents and their families often express satisfaction with the level of care, the friendly atmosphere, and the quality of life offered. The staff, from executive directors to CNAs, are frequently commended for their dedication and responsiveness. Several reviews highlight the positive impact of the community on residents' well-being, noting improvements in physical and mental health. However, some reviews raise concerns about specific issues. A recurring complaint is the perceived lack of security at the reception, with reports of people entering without proper identification checks. Additionally, some reviewers criticize the memory care unit for being understaffed and not meeting residents' needs adequately. There are also mentions of dissatisfaction with the food quality and the management's focus on profits over resident care, with some feeling that the facility "nickel and dimes" residents. Overall, while Abbotswood receives high marks for its community feel and staff dedication, there are areas, particularly in security and memory care, where improvements are suggested. The community is generally recommended for its supportive environment, but potential residents and their families are advised to consider these mixed experiences.
