The reviews for The Avalon of New Albany present a mixed picture of the facility. Many reviewers express high satisfaction, praising the staff's friendliness, attentiveness, and the facility's clean and welcoming environment. Specific staff members, such as Nicole, Sharon, and Vanessa, are frequently highlighted for their exceptional service and support, making transitions smooth and providing peace of mind to families. The facility is described as having a homey atmosphere with a variety of activities and good food, contributing to residents' happiness and engagement. However, some reviews point out significant concerns, particularly regarding the care in the memory care unit. Issues such as untrained staff, inadequate attention to residents' needs, and poor communication between shifts are mentioned. There are reports of neglect, including residents being left unattended, falls not being promptly addressed, and poor hygiene and maintenance in rooms. These negative experiences have led some families to consider relocating their loved ones. Overall, while many families and residents are pleased with the care and environment at The Avalon, there are notable criticisms about staff training and resident care that suggest room for improvement. The facility's strengths lie in its community atmosphere and dedicated staff, but addressing the highlighted issues could enhance the overall experience for all residents.

Sharon, Jill, Nicole, and Tina have been extraordinary in the care for my father in Memory Care. Sharon went above and beyond in any professional care to personally ensure my father’s accommodations were perfect for him and his safety. Jill and Tina, wow, could not ask for better nursing care. Both have been able to be reached 24/7 on days off to assist my family. Equally important, the nursing staff has been an incredible comfort care therapist to my family, professionally managing expeditions for the stages of my father’s disease. Their support and sheer kindness has been appreciated. Nicole is the most positive and determined person to provide joy to her residents and keep my father engaged in the community. Her energy is endless and compassion obvious. In Memory Care there is not much joy, The Avalon has created a community with the personalities of the residents to build a village of care and love. The nurses aides are attentive, just need more on weekends.

Recently moved a relative in and throughout the process it has been outstanding. The room is great and the staff has helped with everything from phone to tv. The meals have been great, our relative loves them, in fact he never misses a meal.

First & Main is a community emphasizing the success of healthy aging. This community is chuck full of amenities, such as a garage workshop, greenhouse, hair salon and business center, that gives residence the opportunity to enjoy the hobbies they make them happy. The Activities Director at First & Main is truly the “life” within the community. Rob works hard to engage residents in activities that are unique to what value in order to bring about healthy aging in place. The memory care unit within the community is full of highly dedicated and friendly staff that engages with residents and encourages communal participation. They use music and technology to bring about memory stimulation that makes them one of my favorites. The food is great too!
