As a retired therapist with experience in mental health and family dynamics, I believe in the importance of feedback for growth. Unfortunately, I must share our disappointing experience at Watercrest Senior Living, where my parents resided for over two years. What began as a promising solution became a frustrating ordeal, culminating in my father’s eviction—a decision I believe was mishandled at multiple levels. My father’s uncharacteristic outburst stemmed from frustrations and cognitive decline, but the Executive Director labeled him unmanageable and quickly evicted him without meaningful attempts to de-escalate or explore alternatives. Requests for documentation of prior concerns were ignored, showing a lack of transparency. Families deserve care that prioritizes dignity and collaboration, especially in complex situations.
