My Dad has been at Dogwood Creek for just over a year now (just got the memory on my Facebook page!). It's been a really good experience for him - overall he seems more social and more engaged when we come to visit. He has friends, he participates in (some) of the planned activites, and they have a really nice courtyard where he reads when it's not too hot out. Of course the move was not without drama (giving up his woodshop at home was the biggest obstacle to moving but he has taken up gardening a bit more), and there are little things here and there (staff turnover, but that seems to be a problem everywhere these days). Overall, we are super happy to have him in such good care and part of such a nice community. Many thanks to the Dogwood Creek team.

This place appears to be a nice place to bring your parent. A 30% discount was offered for life. The assessment for my Mother was only a few questions and she assessed for the assisted living level but she was unable to read the daily "list" for activities or the menu to select her meals. Nobody met us upon move in to give us guidance. We didn't know what time and where to go eat our first meal. It didn't give me a good feeling right off the bat. My Mother didn't feel comfortable living there and she just sat in her room by herself. She wore the same clothes for days and wasn't bathing. It was difficult to get her medication given properly. I stayed with her to help her the first week and observed many things. The food is actually good but the service was very slow and food was cold many times. The a la carte care allows them to go back and add charges or increase charges for the next month. I do not recommend this place for your loved one. She moved out after 3 weeks.
