"River Glen is everything and more than one should expect from a senior assisted living facility. Unlike the new modern institutional like facilities that exist only for the money not the welfare of the senior, River Glen cares about each individual. It's smaller, and home like atmosphere and staff along with an individual plan creates a better environment for the senior. I brought a senior brother from a large, assisted living facility in Colorado to River Glen and the difference in individual care was like night and day. The staff understood the needs of my brother from day one. With a smooth transition from admissions to a set program and professional staff of OT and PT made my brother feel that the staff really cares about his welfare. "The facility is clean and nicely appointed, but not well-run or a good value for the money. In the short time our mom was there (almost two years), they have had three executive directors. With the exception of Allie at the front desk, Westbrook is not a caring supportive community. Our loved one was in independent living, but the director did not tolerate us advocating for our parent who was starting to need additional support. No care or concern shown. They are corporately owned and are concerned with their image rather than residents. They operate with minimal overworked staff, and offer minimal services while raising rates. Food was awful and served in to-go containers (as they can’t keep dining room staff). The facility was not a good fit for our family and we don’t recommend." - Karen… Read more
