"Our family’s experience with Brookdale Oak Park Senior Living was extremely concerning. After meeting with the Sales Manager and arranging a nurse assessment for my father, I expected a clear and professional follow-up. Instead, when I reached out for an update, I was contacted by the Assistant Director, who spoke to me in a dismissive and aggressive way. I was told only that my father would be “better suited” for another facility. When I asked politely for clarification, she refused to provide any explanation, spoke to me disrespectfully, and ultimately hung up on me. This type of treatment is unacceptable from any senior living provider, let alone someone in leadership. Families making decisions about care deserve transparency, honesty, and compassion. As an African American family, I also cannot help but question whether bias contributed to how abruptly and disrespectfully we were treated. "Not the best. Always a high turnover in staff. My Mom and other patients wait forever to order their food and then even longer to get it and get the correct order. The staff pretends to be friendly but beneath that phony exterior they just want to get the heck out of there as soon as possible. It's just a job to them. I'm told they blame "corporate" for everything. What does "corporate" know about Illinois when they're located in Colorado. "NEGATIVE STARS. You will be told the Clare is one of the nicer facilities and it may be true for the nursing home portion however I have nothing nice to say regarding their rehab center. I met Amy the case manager to tour the facility and discuss what my mother had been through and the level of care she required. I was told the Clare was more than capable of handling her needs however that was a blatant lie. This is NOT an adequate rehabilitation facility for post hospitalization patients. The staff is under trained, under qualified and under staffed. I was incredibly clear on my mothers condition and the level of patience and care needed to keep her comfortable. Not only did they not respect our wishes; they did the exact opposite. They bullied my mother and when she asked them to please be more gentle with her and to stop hurting her she was told if she didn't like their treatment she could go back to the hospital. "The Senior Suites of Auburn Gresham is usually kept clean and tidy. However, there is no security for the residents considering it sits right on 79th street. There is no security guard on staff or 24hr maintenance line to contact anyone in case there is an emergency in the units. I went to visit a friend and couldn’t get in the entry door to ring the bell because the entry door automatic system was not responding. This should not be happening. My elderly friend had to exit their apartment and come down the elevator to let me in the building. They also shut down the laundry rooms making it inconvenient for the tenants even though these services are included in the rents and are vital for tenants that have mobility issues. This building needs better management and oversight of the front office personnel as well. The lady there is often unprofessional and chatting up with her friends instead of helping the residents. "I lived there in 2023 moved in November and after that 6mos into my stay they have roaches infestation and I heard of bed bugs being there..The place was not cleaned good elevators were nasty and the carpet on the floors were nasty..even one time the whole power in the building went out not good at all for people with oxygen..I building was under poor management and she could care less how people lived in the building ..Down to the very last month I was there she never one time had the orkin to come to my apartment for the last 2 times he was there to spray for roaches just left me hanging since I was moving out..I would have loved living there but not under them circumstances ..sleeping with the lights on ..because of the roaches being bad and getting in the bed a couple of times with me..It was very terrible living under them circumstances..I don't do roaches I'm sorry... very terrible place to live under the terrible manager that is there ..they need a more caring manager" - Esther… Read more
